Re-roofing older Sydney homes
Many houses across the Northern Beaches and North Shore were built in the 1950s to 1970s and still have their original roofs. Replacing them can involve steep or narrow block access, tight side setbacks and, on some streets, heritage controls on materials and colours. We discuss all of this at the inspection.
For apartment and commercial buildings, roof replacement usually also involves the strata committee or building manager, crane or scaffold access, and work zone permits from the council.

How long does a re-roof take?
It depends on the size of the roof, the access and the weather. Your written quote will set out the expected timeframe once we have inspected the property.
Can we stay at home while the roof is replaced?
In most cases, yes. There will be noise and activity during working hours, and we will tell you if any part of the job means rooms should be cleared.
Do I need council approval to replace my roof?
Many like-for-like roof replacements do not need approval, but changes to the material or colour, or homes in heritage conservation areas, may. Check with your local council before work is booked.
