Flashings are the strips of metal that seal the joins where a roof meets a wall, chimney, skylight, vent or another roof. They are small, but they do a big job, and they are behind a large share of roof leaks.
Over time flashings rust, crack, lift in the wind or pull away as the building moves. We repair them or replace them with new flashings made to suit the job.

Salt spray is hard on flashings, especially on houses with a view of the water in Manly, Fairlight, Queenscliff, Collaroy and Whale Beach. Using a material that suits the conditions, and that is compatible with your roof, helps new flashings last.

Can a flashing be repaired, or does it need replacing?
Small issues, such as a lifted edge or failed sealant, can often be repaired. If the flashing is rusted through or badly fitted, a new one is the better fix.
Why does it matter which metal is used?
Some metals react with each other and corrode when they touch or when water runs from one to the other. We use flashing materials that are compatible with your roof.
